Milestones and Project Impact

A Chronicle of Transformation — July to October 2025

From the inaugural Project Inception Meeting in July 2025 to the establishment of the Multi-Donor Cost-Sharing Facility in October, the AGRA-KBS Ecosystem Project achieved six transformative milestones in its first operational quarter. Each activity was deliberately sequenced to build momentum, engage stakeholders, and create durable structural change in Nigeria’s BDS landscape, with a consistent focus on Agri-SMEs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and — above all — women and youth-led enterprises in Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.

PROJECT TIMELINE: JULY – OCTOBER 2025

Milestone 1

#1

Abuja, FCT | 31 July 2025
Project Inception Meeting
The initiative was formally launched at Enspire Hub, Merit House, Abuja, bringing together 27 stakeholders (19 male, 8 female) from AGRA, KBS, SMEDAN, JESNOCH Intl., and EDC. Partners aligned on strategic objectives, implementation protocols, and organizational roles. The meeting reviewed BDS capacity gaps among existing agricultural sector providers and formalized the governance framework and implementation roadmap for Q3-Q4 2025.

Milestone 2

#2

Kaduna | August – September 2025

Awareness Campaign: Radio Broadcast and Agri-Revolution Fireside Chat

KBS implemented a two-pronged awareness strategy. A radio interview with Project Director Dr. Dahiru Sani reached a broad national audience, articulating the importance of BDS professionalization for agricultural SME growth. This was complemented by the ‘AgriRevolution: How New Agri-BDSPs will Scale the Farmscape’ Fireside Chat at Kaduna Business School on 9 September 2025. The event convened agricultural practitioners, policymakers, and BDSP professionals to explore Digital Agriculture, Funding Architecture, Financial Inclusion, and strategies for empowering the agri-ecosystem.

Milestone 3

#3

National | 24-27 September 2025

Annual Agri-Invest Matchmaking Event — ‘The Power Match: Entrepreneurs vs. Investors’

A flagship annual deliverable under the AGRA-KBS Project, the Agri-Invest Matchmaking Event creates a permanent, structured platform linking growth-oriented Agri-SMEs and Farmer Producer Organizations with investors, financial institutions, and development partners. The inaugural edition was co-organized with SMEDAN, with special emphasis on women and youth-led enterprises. The event centered on three pillars: Access to Finance, Networking, and competitive Pitching, with virtual training sessions running 26-27 September 2025. The initiative catalyzed investment interest, strengthened business networks, and enhanced the visibility and credibility of participating SMEs.

Milestone 4

#4

Multiple States | 22-24 September 2025

Capacity Building for State MDAs — Agri-BDS Systems Strengthening Programme

A three-day Agri-BDS Systems Strengthening Capacity Building Programme was delivered concurrently across multiple states, targeting Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) that interface with agricultural SMEs. Jointly implemented by KBS and SMEDAN, the programme strengthened institutional understanding of BDS in the agricultural sector, improved government-SME collaboration frameworks, and aligned state-level policies with AGRA-led national interventions. Officials from State Ministries of Trade, Investment Promotion, and Innovation participated across all states.

Milestone 5

#5

Online | Q3 2025

Online Learning Platform Upgrade — lms.kbs.edu.ng

KBS successfully transitioned from its legacy WordPress-based training platform to a fully upgraded Learning Management System (LMS). The new platform at lms.kbs.edu.ng strengthens KBS’s capacity for scalable online programme delivery, improves the learner experience through intuitive navigation and real-time feedback, and supports multiple simultaneous programme streams. It ensures data integrity, certification security, and ease of administration — positioning KBS as Nigeria’s leading provider of accredited Agri-BDS training.

Enhanced Learner Experience

Intuitive navigation, real-time progress tracking, and interactive assessments make learning accessible for professionals across Nigeria, including those with limited prior experience of online platforms.

Multiple Programme Streams

The platform supports simultaneous delivery of multiple training programmes, enabling KBS to scale Agri-BDS certification offerings rapidly and respond to evolving sector needs without rebuilding infrastructure.

Data Integrity and Secure Certification

Robust backend systems protect learner data, maintain assessment integrity, and provide tamper-proof certification records — giving agri-entrepreneurs, employers, investors, and regulators full confidence in awarded credentials.

Built for National and Regional Scale

The LMS architecture is designed for future expansion to additional states and ECOWAS partner countries, positioning KBS as a continental centre of excellence for Agri-BDS professional training.

Milestone 6

#6

Abuja, FCT | 9 October 2025

Multi-Donor Cost-Sharing Facility (MDCF) — Inaugural Steering Committee Meeting

The MDCF Steering Committee was formally inaugurated at Enspire Hub, Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, attended by key public and private sector stakeholders both in-person and virtually. The inaugural session reviewed and validated the Facility’s Governance and Operational Framework, establishing guiding principles, funding mechanisms, operational procedures, and monitoring systems. The MDCF addresses Nigeria’s Agri-SME financing gap by pooling donor contributions, crowding in private investment, and maintaining transparent governance. This milestone marks a transformative step toward a sustainable and structured agricultural financing mechanism for Nigeria.
