Background
Prof. Seth Akutson is a Harvard Business School-trained Entrepreneurship Andragogue, former Vice Chancellor, and a Chartered Stockbroker/Investment Analyst with credentials spanning Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and is an alumnus of three leading universities. Throughout his career, Prof. Akutson has served as a pioneer Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director of Entrepreneurship, and Head of Research and Training at the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Lagos.
His extensive expertise includes consultancy and board roles with numerous international organizations, public institutions, and private enterprises worldwide. A United Nations Volunteer and British Council-accredited Trainer and Panellist, Prof. Akutson has also contributed as an Academic Scholar, External Examiner, Guest Speaker, and Professorial Assessor to over 20 universities across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
With over three decades of experience, Prof. Akutson has served as a World Bank Advisor in Nigeria’s Ministry of Power and as a Policy Consultant with Germany’s GiZ. He facilitates the Federal Government Enterprise Program and serves as a Business Clinic Diagnostics Provider under UKaid. Prof. Akutson is a faculty member at prominent business schools, including EDC Lagos and Kaduna Business School, where he teaches Venture Growth and IFC-World Bank modules.
His accomplishments include receiving a grant from the United States Embassy for Digital Marketing Modules for Universities. Prof. Akutson is a Fellow of several esteemed professional institutes, including the Chartered Institutes of Management (FNIM), Marketing (FNIMN), Administration (FCIA), Education (FNIEPA), Consulting (FIMC), Capital Market (FCMA), and Personnel Management (MCIPM). He is also a Certified Business Development Service Provider (BDSP) and holds the European Business Competence License (EBCL*), among numerous other honors and awards across the United States, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
