    NATIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICE PROVIDER

    BACKGROUND

    The National Framework for the accreditation and certification of Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) aims to set the standard for Business Development interventions by providing the mark of quality for the delivery of Business Development Services (BDS) to the Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

    Upon attaining accreditation, BDSPs will assist in strategy, performance, competitiveness and facilitate access to finance therefore directly contributing to the country’s economic development.

    CURRICULUM VALIDATION

    At the Curriculum Validation workshop in Abuja on 29th November 2018. The Minister of State for Trade and Investment emphasized the need to support small businesses as drivers for increasing productivity, creating jobs and boosting the economy. She said the curriculum designed by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN for the certification and accreditation of Business Development Service Providers BDSPs in the country would address the identified challenges facing the MSME sub-sector.

    THE INVOLVEMENT OF KADUNA BUSINESS SCHOOL (KBS)

    In November of 2018, SMEDAN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Enterprise Development Center (PAN Atlantic University) Lagos and the Kaduna Business School. This agreement gave the two institutions the responsibility of coordinating and executing the institutionalization process of the Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) Certification and Accreditation programme in Nigeria.
